95 points Decanter to our Benegas Single Vineyard Malbec
In June 2021, the worldwide recognized wine media Decanter scored our Benegas Single Vineyard Malbec 2018 with the highest score, 95 points.
Produced with grapes from our Estate owned Vineyard located in the heart of Gualtallary, Finca La Encerrada, our Single Vineyard Malbec 2018 represents the expression of this fantastic terroir, and the constant persuing of excellence by the winery.
Gualtallary in Uco Valley, at 1.450 mts above sea level, is considered the Diamond of Uco Valley, due to the unique conditions of height, climate and soil, being the origin of high quality wines.
Decanter is one of the most recognized media (website and magazine) in the wine world. In June 2021 Decanter tasted hundreds of argentine wines, premium Malbecs, giving scores up to 95 points (the highest score in the tasting). Decanter is recognized by its blind tastings, where the wine speaks by itself.
The tasting panel was made up of 3 specialized journalists from the media. In their own words, they discribed the Benegas Single Vineyard Malbec 2018 as follow:
Alistair Cooper MW: Cassis, mulberry and rosehip; lovely delicate florailty. Defined chalky tannins that need to resolve a little but add superb structure. Good dark fruit and a peppery snap on the balanced, zesty and fresh finish.
Amanda Barnes: A mineral, more savoury nose with wild mountain herbs and flowers on the palate. A fresh, balanced and ageworthy Malbec that displays lots of energy and tension.
Dirceu Vianna Junior MW: Pure and clear with an amazing bouquet of ripe forest fruits, wet earth and a delicate herbal note that is appealing. Beautifully harmonious with excellent concentration of fruit and long, pleasant finish. Delicious, with lovely tension.
Benegas Single Vineyard Malbec 2018. A memorable wine, from a memorable place.
